Summer Wryn Tags

 I don't do July 4th. Something about red, white and blue together makes me cringe. I do, however, love the bright colors of summer. So, when my boss at work challenged me to bring in some decorations for July, I went sunny over patriotic.

This one I created by embossing a plain manilla tag with the Time Holtz Texture Fades in 'Rays' and inked using the Squeezed Lemonade from his new Spring line, and Salty Ocean & Mowed Lawn from the Summer line. The image is Sweet Treat Wryn from Tiddly Inks and colored using Copic Markers. (I have to get better at writing down which ones I use)

Isn't she precious? I love Tiddly Inks stamps. I used the Retro Circles embossing folder for the background and Peacock Feathers & Shaded Lilac Distress Inks from the Spring line and Picked Raspberry from the Summer line. That pink is AMAZING! My little pink streak Wryn is the Summer Sweet Wryn from Tiddly Inks.

 Today I focused on Father's Day cards. The first was for my Grandfather. He's actually my husband's grandfather, but I adopted him as mine before Seth and I were even engaged. He is the sweetest, funniest man and never fails to make me smile. (My husband is pretty fantastic too) So, in light of one of W.T's favorite past times, I made him a card using Ricky - Fishing Expert. I colored him to look like a young Seth and made a little tag for the front using Copic colored clip art.

 For my own father I went funny. As long as I can remember my dad's had a very prominent mustache. It was always a weird thing when a wild hair would make him shave it off. (See what I did there. *Snickers*) So, it only seemed natural to celebrate it with some fun graphics and some Graphics 45 papers.

I was pretty amused by the inside as well, so I had to share.

 Edith Kemp is like a TV Grandmother. She has the cute white hairstyle that never moves (even on a windy beach). She always has a table full of homemade food when we get there after a long ride. She knows everyone in her neighborhood and everyone loves her. She has a large, lovely garden, so I thought for Mother's Day, Peony made the perfect card for her.

One of my favorite things growing up was to snuggle on the sofa with my mom and watch a movie. The Wizard of Oz was an annual tradition in my house. So, Dorothy from Kraftin Kimmie's Oz collection seemed like the right fit. I bought the whole freaking collection I loved it so much...

Craft Room

I thought I would share a few pictures of my newly finished craft room

 It's a bit cramped, but I've managed to fit everything I need. Including my cat, Asher.

 Since this picture was taken, I've actually added more boxes and downgraded my action figure collection. It broke my heart, but I'm over 30 now...so....yeah.

 My desk is to the left, and my Husband's is to the right. He can be in their working on music while I work on my cards. The steampunk prints are from a fantastic shop on Etsy. They print on old encyclopedia pages and it looks awesome.

 I'm what is apparently referred to as a 'collector'. The drawer next to this is filled as well...I have them all....*Sigh* I need to attend some art supply anonymous meetings or something...

The collection has grown since this picture and spilled into 4 of these cases...Did I mention I'm a collector?

Let them eat Cupcakes!

 I fell in love with this designer. Her characters are so adorable. This one is Marie Antoinette from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps. I'm not used to using stamps for my characters instead of printed Digis. I'll admit it took some getting used to and was very frustrating at first, but once I got a clean image to work with, I was able to scan it in and now I'll be able to work with it easier in the future.

I had a lot of fun with her hair. I had the recent Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette in mind when I colored her, keeping the colors very candy gloss.

 I can't live without my Distress Inks.

So, this all went into a Birthday Card for my co-worker. I made her a cheesecake, but cupcakes just sounded cuter (And usually more what I'm known for)

And this was the finished card. Sparkles and pastels. Very fun.

Harry Potter Card

Anyone who knows me, and I mean REALLY knows me, knows that I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, yet this is the only Harry Potter card I've made. How is that? Probably because it takes someone special to get a card like this from me.

This, I made for my lovely Deb. She's the Harry to my Draco *Winks* I'll have to make her a new one now that I'm a bit better with my Copics and composition.

The figure was care of Tiddly Inks, who I am also obsessed with. Seriously. Every time she releases a new stamp, I NEED IT!! *Grabby hands*

I added the striping to his scarf, because what's a Gryffindor scarf without stripes and I printed the antiqued Hogwarts Crest and embossed it. I think it's time to make a new one. I still have a Hermione and Ron to play with.

Fun with Copic

I took my very first Copic class last weekend. Taught by Liz at Whim-So-Doodle in St. Pete, who was brilliant and amusing and such a good teacher. I had a blast. The point of the class was to learn how to colorize skin, the tones to use, the shading and how to blend to make the perfect skin tone. This was the result of that class:

I got an extra practice sheet and when I got home,I took it a little further.


Throughout the week I worked on a cute piece for a birthday card for my friend Brenna and I was pretty pleased with the outcome. It was a KennyK digital stamp. I love his work, you can download them here: http://www.kennykdownloads.com/ and although my Copic collection is still a bit limited, I think it works.


I finished the outside using Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante papers and some Tim Holtz Ideology bits from Foliage & Gears.

For the inside message, I used Distress Inks and a bit of clear embossing powder.

My next class is hair, which I seriously need. That was the one spot I was really unhappy with. I’ve actually signed up for a few classes in February and I’m very excited.
