SOG Oct 22nd Digi Release

Mae Antoinette! You guys seriously have no idea my obsession with Marie Antoinette, so when I saw on Kristy's blog a while back that she was sketching out a Mae Antoinette, I almost lost it. I'm so excited about this stamp!!

The (Very funny and appropriate) sentiment is from the  Big Wishes Mae clear stamp and I've also used the bow cut files from this week's release. (I didn't mean to make that sound like so much of an after thought, but MAE ANTOINETTE!!! EEEEEEE) Okay, I'll try not to lose my head over it....

Pixie Dust

I made this birthday card for my husband's grandmother (Mimi, as we call her) She's so sweet and has these incredible gardens that I love looking at whenever we visit, so I thought this sweet little pixie with her little flower hat was perfect.

I colored her with copics using some combinations I've never used before.

The hair combination kind of made her hair look like pretty yarn, which I thought was a kind of neat affect and I really love that her whole outfit looks like it could be made of pieces of flowers.

I added a little Webster's Pages trim and little wooden mushrooms

I can never seem to capture this in photos, but I also used the Copic Spica glitter pen to add some shimmer to her wings and I used a white Gelly pen for all the highlights in her eyes, lips and cheeks.

Some Odd Birthday Card

I've been in a bit of a design slump lately, and then to top it off, I managed to get my annual hit of strep throat (Boo) which made it even harder for me to drag myself into the studio. To kind of ease back into things, I took the advise of some of the Oddies over at the Some Odd Girl Ning and did a little reorganizing of my space and the ever growing amount of papers and bits and bobs. I also started thinking about what birthdays I have coming up and I remembered this awesome Ustream I watched where Kristi colored Big Wishes Mae by using a birthday candle as the only light source....and BLAM! I had a project. *Cheers*

The trick was to make everything close to the candle super highlighted and to darken everything from there. I like how she turned out.

If I had it to do over, I think I'd go back over the outside area with the chisel edge again.

 Here is the finished card! I used new Fancy Pants Trendsetter papers (I love all their new paper sets!) and some really fun Webster's Pages trim.

It's going to be a fun birthday card for my boss at work. I think the quote on it is perfect. 'A girl should be two things: Classy & Fabulous!' is just perfect for her.

Some Odd Girl May Challenge

I've been really big into fairy tales lately. We got passes to Disney for my birthday and I've started a collection of princess shirts (Don't ask) and lucky for me, Kristy has been indulging my habit with A-MAZING stamps and digi's over at Some Odd Girl. I think I've made a card with all of them now, but this was my submission for the May Challenge.

The challenge was to make a card with this template/sketch:

I decided to use Cinderella. She's so sweet and so fun and I just couldn't resist giving her an awesome girlie card to go on.

And while it doesn't show up in the image, I gave her necklace and shoes the proper sparkle with the Copic Spica pen. (I love that thing)

Birthday Fishes

I made a card this week that I'm super proud of. It's for one of my favorite people in the world, and her birthday is the same as mine (March 16th) and so I thought a mermaid would be the perfect option for our Pisces connection. But which mermaid to choose? I love so many of them. But finally I settled on a stamp I'd never used before from the Under the Sea Mae set. I made the other one in the color along on UStream a couple weeks ago, but that one is very pink, and my friend is not a big fan of pink. *Snickers*

This is the finished card. Isn't she pretty?

And a nice close up. I love the stippling with Copics. It's fun to mix colors that way and you can just layer them on.

I also love the iridescence in the paper I used for the bubbles. It's like bubbles trapped inside of bubbles.

I was so inspired to finish this card, I couldn't even sleep until I did! Is there a Crafters Anonymous?

Some Odd Girl - March Sketch Challenge

Today's inspiration came from a few difference sources. My favorite nephew's birthday is this month, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to enter the Boys Only challenge, over at the Some Odd Girl blog. And since since I'm a woman of very limited free time, I decided to - what? Multitask! And I also used the inspiration from the March Sketch challenge at the same time.

This is Puppy-Tobie from Some Odd Girl. I've been dying to use him and this seemed like the perfect occasion.

Isn't he a cutie. I've found myself having a few little dudes in my life now, and Tobie seems to fit every occasion with them, which is awesome.

Some of you might have noticed my other inspiration, and that is one of my favorite cartoons, Invader Zim. As soon as I thought of this stamp and my little nephew, I immediately thought of Gir, the little robot that dresses like a little green dog to 'blend in'. *Giggles*

The sentiment is from the Make a Statement clear stamp (Also Some Odd Girl) and the paper is from Die Cuts with a View 'Green Stack'

Some Odd Birthday

For my favorite couple, I made adorable cards using a couple Some Odd Girl images. The first was for my fellow baker buddy, Brenna. I used Baker Mae for the main image (Isn't she cute). Her dress is a combination of Y21-Y28 & BG53-BG57. I made the I Heart Cake banner in Photoshop and cut that, the backers and the continued chevron pattern on my Zing. (Seriously the best thing my husband has ever bought me. I love that he supports my habit...I mean hobby)

 

Her husband, Roman, has a birthday very close to Brenna's, so I thought it would be nice to make him a card too, even though usually the only guys I make cards for are my own husband and my family members, but I figured being the husband of my best friend makes Roman family, right? Totally. 

For Roman's card, I used 1920's Kody from Some Odd Girl.

I used YG91-YG99 to color his outfit and added a few matching brads and buttons. Roman raved over it, which was very touching. It's always nice to know that the cards you make will be kept and cherished.
