SOG Inspiration

Good morning, peeps! I come to you today with a Some Odd Girl Inspiration post. Do you have a last minute gift to prepare for Christmas? This is the perfect quick gift solution. All you need are a few tools, a cute SOG image and some hot cocoa! I used Cuppa Mae (digi) because she just seemed perfect for this project and a sentiment from Warm Wishes Tia.

I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration! Don't forget to join us this month for the Make Your Own Background challenge and there are always lots of fun happenings in the Ning community! Hope to see you there soon!

SOG - Digi Release Day - Super Mae and Sweet Kiss Kody

Oh my goodness, the digi release this week is SO MUCH FUN! I say this as if I don't love every SOG image, which I do, but I have a serious soft spot for super heroes and my husband (more on that later)

To start with, we have Super Mae, who is so super cute. I went round and round on what color costume to give her, but I knew I wanted something classically bright! I added some sentiments from Moulin Mae and Make a Statement clear stamps and I think they work perfectly!

And then there is Sweet Kiss Kody, which brings us back to my husband..lol. We met 14 years ago, and this was the ideal image for a card to celebrate the event. Painted wood veneer embellishments are my new favorite thing. With a sentiment from the new I DO clear set, Seth was very happy with his card. It's up on the card shelf by his bed. So cute.

Thank you all for stopping by. I know Christmas is just around the corner and everyone is so busy, but don't forget about the December Make Your Own Background challenge over on the SOG Blog!

SOG Featured Digi - Snowman Tobie

This month, our featured digi is the oh-so-appropriate Snowman Tobie! I hear rumors from way down here in Florida that everyone north of me is snowed in. Pity. *Grins* I'm just kidding. I actually envy all the snowbirds. I could use some hot cocoa right about now, but it's hard to work up to it when it's 85 degrees outside.

This was my first attempt coloring snow, and I had so much fun with adding texture and shading. I thought the sentiment from Snow Bunny is just perfect. Thanks for visiting and Warm Wishes from down here in Florida!

SOG - Digi Release Day - Library Mae

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means! Digi Release Day over at Some Odd Girl! WOOHOO!! This week there are two new images, Library Mae and Reading Tia! This week I've made a project with Library Mae. Isn't she sweet? I love the expression on her face as she tries to blow a lock of hair out of her face without setting down her massive pile of books!
I also dig the little detail of pencils in her hair! This is also my first time ever using Washi tape. I know, crazy, right? We're almost halfway through the SOG Monthly challenge, so maybe you want to grab one of these smart gals and use it for you challenge entry. *Nudge nudge*We also just started our Hol-ODD-Day Hop yesterday, and it's a good chance to see amazing gift ideas as well as an opportunity to win tons of fun prizes!

Hol-ODD-Day-Hop!

WELCOME to our Hol-ODD-Day Hop!  ‘Tis the season for the Odd Girls to get their craft on, and whip up some fun things just in time for the holidays!   Some Odd Girl is very happy to bring you our annual…

This year, we are VERY happy to bring you some of our gift and decor ideas that we hope will inspire you as we all head into the home stretch!  Today, we HOP!  All you have to do is visit all of the blogs below and leave some love at each stop.
You should have arrived from Isha’s blog – if so, you’re definitely on the right track!  :)   If not, CLICK HERE to get to the beginning ‘cuz you won’t want to miss a beat!

There are some random thingies to be won here and there, but I can’t tell you exactly where!  You might also notice that we have a guest crafter or two  joining us this week! (One joins us today – woo hoo! – and the other will pop up in the week and we’ll give you an extra chance to win!)
Needless to say, we have had a TON of fun making our Hol-ODD-Day projects, and we hope you have fun hopping with us!  Ready?  Here’s the hop list!

This project was so much fun, getting to really think about something other than cards and scrapbook pages and making something super gifty instead! I LOVE making jewelry, so I thought what better way to show off the awesome ways you can use the SOG stamps than to make a necklace with one! I stamped the poppy from Believe onto a page from Snow White & Rose Red. I colored it with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and then sealed it with glue, making sure to fuzz the red around the edges to give it a nice vintage feel. Then I just popped on a glass cabochon, trimmed around the edges and adhered it to a necklace base I made.

So, hop around, take your time, leave your comments between now and Sunday, December 15th and we’ll have some winners to announce on Monday, the 16th!  There may or may not be a stamp set or two up for grabs.  There may ALSO be (or maybe not!) some of the new Odds & Ends to win!  ANNNND there may even be some extras.  But you’ll have to join us throughout the week to find out!

Now you’re off to Lesley’s blog!  Enjoy the hop, Oddies, and we’ll be showing details of some of the projects throughout the week, so drop by and watch for your bonus chances to win!

SOG Digi Release Day - Pajama King Tobie

Are you ready for a new digi release? Of course you are, what a silly question. This week there are adorable new Tobie & Tia stamps in the shop! I worked on the new Pajama King Tobie! He reminds me a bit of Max from Where the Wild Things Are...only cooler. *Grins*

Isn't he a brave little king? I love his little paper crown and and paper sword and how gleeful he looks. You'll look gleeful as you color him to! Give it a try!

SOG-Monthly Challenge-Create your own background

Hullo there! We have a new challenge for you this month over at the Some Odd Girl blog! This month the challenge is to make your own background! You can use anything. Stamps, inks, Washi, whatever you want! For my contribution, I went ALL background and used ALL THE STAMPS!! Okay, maybe not all of them, but most of them....

It was a lot of fun making this card background, taking all the sentiment stamps and setting them up to fit together into a cool pattern. What do you think of the results? The stamps I used are listed here: Everyday Smiles, Make A Statement, Geisha Kaylee, Moulin Mae, Artist Mae, Hey Mae, Puppy Love Mae, Thank You Mae & Dare to Be Gwen....I think that covers it. HA!

SOG New Digi Tuesday - Wave Mae

I felt a little bit retro when I made this card and I think she's friggin adorable and a little 80's. (Now I have that Calvin Harris song stuck in my head)

And holy patterns, Batman! Hexagons, Chevrons, Stars and wood grain! Woohoo! Can you tell that I had fun, or what? I particularly love Wave Mae because she's so versatile! I could see her as a Miss You card, A Belated Birthday card, or just a general Hello, like I've done here. I used Fancy Pants Designs Trendsetter papers on this project as well as the awesome Perfect Layers tool from our hop earlier this month (I love that thing!)

For my second project I'm using the cut files from the same release. I used the 'You Are Here' graphic and made cute place holders for a dinner party!

These were super fun and easy to create and they turned out awesome!

And there is still time, so don't forget to enter your project into this month's Speech Bubble challenge

SOG Community Challenge - Tic-Tac-Toe

Who doesn't love a game?! This week at the SOG community, we have a fun one posted for you!

I'm sure you all know how to play Tic-Tac-Toe, yes? Well, if not, the goal is to put your 'X' or your 'O' on three adjoining squares to win. 3 across, 3 up or 3 diagonal. Luckily I didn't have another player to thwart my moves! HA! I went diagonal using sequins, sticker letters and Gifty Gwen!

I also thought this would make the perfect Christmas card (and why not use the community challenges to knock out stuff we have to do already, right?)

There are so many things you can do with this challenge! I want to see your creations posted over in the SOG Ning so I can oooh and ahhh over them all week!

SOG-Digi Release Day-Turkey Day Kaylee

I'm so looking forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. It's great to get together with the whole family and sit down for a nice home-cooked meal, so that makes this week's release extra special! Kristi has outdone herself with the super cute, retro style Kaylee and a very versatile Pumpkin cut file!

I really loved paper piecing her dress and apron and can I please profess my total love for her hairstyle?! She's just so Leave It To Beaver and I definitely want to eat at her dinner table! The papers are from Echo Park Reflections (Fall Dots) Basic Grey (Bread Pudding) and the sentiment is from Thank You Mae

SOG - Digi Tuesday - ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

There are pictures of me in existence, about a year old, wearing the old Tampa Bay Bucs orange and white. No matter how horrible our team is, my father still roots for them and is still devastated every time they predictably lose. In fact, the one time they made it to the Super Bowl, I was certain it was a sign of the Apocalypse. But still they play and still my dad watches, ever the diligent fan.

This card was inspired by my dad's love of football. To me, more than even the game itself, it's about persistence and fighting to move forward. So, with this week's release, I worked with Football Tia to make one touch little cookie...but who says she can't still wear pink? The sentiments is from Everyday Smiles.

If it were October, she'd make a great Breast Cancer Awareness card, wouldn't she? She would also look great with some cool speech bubbles...for say...our Speech Bubble Challenge over at the SOG Blog!!

SOG meets Perfect Layers!

We are lucky enough to be pairing up this week with Perfect Layers! If you’re not already familiar with Perfect Paper Crafting, you are in for a TREAT!  Their tools allow crafters to get perfect placement of their mats and edges, easily shape and layer, and AIRBRUSH for gorgeous effects on their projects!  The Odd Girls enjoyed playing with their Perfect Layers, Perfect Squares, and Perfect Ruler for this little event…

Today, both teams come together to bring you a fabulously inspiring BLOG HOP that will run through Sunday, November 17th.  There are 15 stops along the way including the main blogs, and PLENTY of inspiration for you to enjoy, so we hope you have as much fun as we’ve all had in this little partnership!

I had the Perfect Layers Border Tool #1 to use and found it so simple. It gave me 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 and 5/8 increments to work in and all I had to do was flip it and line it up with my piece and Blam! Awesome card! No measuring! (I might have already used it on 2 other project this week *Shifty*)

The paper I used is from the Fancy Pants Park Bench collection and the stamp and sentiment are Some Odd Girl (of course) Thank you Mae clear set. For the time this tool saves, it's worth every penny, and look at how dimensional and lovely the final product came out! I'm already scoping out the store to see what other handy tools they have for me to snatch up and you should too!

You should have arrived from Eva’s blog, but in case you get lost or distracted along the way, here’s the hop order:
Some Odd Girl blog
Perfect Paper Crafting blog
Suzanne BierEva Uyeunten

Be sure to comment at EVERY stop and you’ll be eligible to win one of TWO prize packs that include one of these tools and a stamp set of your choice!  Your next stop is Pam’s blog.
We’ll be sharing inspiration throughout the week so you can see how the Odd Girls have used the Perfect Paper Crafting tools, and maybe a little guest project here and there from our partners in this hop!  You have until Sunday at midnight EST to leave your comments, and Some Odd Girl and Perfect Paper Crafting will each draw one winner, to be announced on Monday, November 18th.

SOG Clear Stamp Release - Little Loves

Okay, so generally Alexis + Kids = No. *Snort* My poor mom has finally settled into the fact that I'm just not a baby person. Why are they always so sticky?! *Headshake* Anyhow, there are a couple of exceptions to my rule and that's my nephew Dorian and my nephew by best friend association, Sebastian. I kind of love both those kids. (But don't tell anyone) This Little Loves stamp reminds me so much of those adorable boys and I just love it!

I did some paper piecing with the stuffed bunny, because I just HAD to and I had fun creating a loud background for him.

Skin:
Hair: E25 & E27
Clothes: B37, B39, E39, YR61, YR65, Y38 & Y23

The sentiment is from the same set, and there is also another cute baby in the set.  I always struggled finding images of babies that I could use on projects for showers or early birthdays and these are a perfect addition to my collection. (In fact this card will go to Dorian after I release it here)

I hope you liked today's project and I hope to see you all over at the main Some Odd Girl Blog for the chance to win this awesome set!

SOG Digi Release Tuesday! Angels and Goddesses

Today I bring not one, but two samples from the A-Mazing Digi release today! First up is Angel Mae. Isn't she lovely?! I could easily see her on a beautiful Christmas card, but I wanted to make something more neutral with her to show how versatile she really is. Her wings are such a dream to color! I chose to keep a simple gold, white and pale blue theme with her, and I had fun creating the little highlights on her halo and the clouds, since obviously she's a bright, glowing angel. The sentiment is from Happy Day and I think it makes it the perfect card to give to a special friend just because!

Next up I have Forest Goddess

I have to admit, I have not had this much fun coloring an image in some time. There is so much detail in the drawing and it gives you so much opportunity to play with color and shading. I wanted a very vibrant autumnal pallet for her, finishing the area around her with matching Distressed Inks and a little bit of gold spray for added shimmer.

To do this , I cut two images of her, one on the solid rectangle and one right up to the outline and I used that for a reverse mask to protect my colored image from the Distress Inks.
I finished off the card with some Tattered Flowers made from Mid-Summer Night's Dream book pages, a little Webster's Pages trim and a Studio Calico wooden veneer flag with a Thank You Mae sentiment stamped on it.

These are definite must-have additions to your Some Odd Girl collections! Maybe you'll want to use them on this month's challenge!

SOG Clear Stamp Release - Welcome Baby

Have you been in need of a good set of baby sentiments? Really? What a coincidence! So have I!!

This new Some Odd Girl set is just perfect for a baby shower or congratulations card. (I could have used this a couple months ago when my sister in law had her shower) I made a cute border with hearts to match the one in the set and added a bit of bakers twine, but I really think the sentiments speak for themselves. See what I did there? Anyhow, puns aside, you should go and get yours now! And don't forget to comment on the blog for your chance to win this awesome stamp!

SOG Clear Stamp Release - On Safari

This stamp pack is incredible! There are so many adorable baby animals to choose from, but I couldn't resist this sweet elephant.

I thought it was perfect for a sweet card to send a friend who is going through a rough time and needs a friend.

I did a little paper piecing on the stamp and then went over it with BV20 & BV23. The sentiment is from the same set.

The set also contains another cute elephant, a giraffe and an adorable lion. You should check it out here! And don't forget to leave a comment on the blog for the release for a change to win these awesome stamps!

SOG- November Challenge - Speech Bubbles

What's that? It's not Turkey Day yet? And it's still 89 degrees outside? But I'm in the mood for Christmas! And what better way to project my wintery thoughts than with a holiday card?

This month's challenge at Some Odd Girl is to make a project using speech bubbles (which you can now find in the SOG shop *wink wink, nudge nudge*) For this project I used the cut files released last week along with the amazing HollyDay Gwen stamp. Isn't she just a doll in all that icy blue?

Skin: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21, R20, R21 & R22
Hair: E07, E15, E18 & E19
Clothes: BG000, BG01, BG02, BG07, E40 & E41

You can enter your own project into the challenge here for a chance to win a fun prize!

Alright, to coax along my Christmas feelings, I want to hear all about your winter plans this year.

SOG Digi Release - Puppy Gwen & Speech Bubbles

How could you not love that sweet punam?! Admittedly, I don't have a dog. I have a cat...but my cat Asher acts so much more like a dog it's kind of amusing and my parents own a dog grooming salon back in my home town, so I've kind of always been around them in one form or another. I just love Puppy Gwen. In fact, Gwen is quickly becoming my favorite SOGgy character to color (maybe because we have the same hairstyle) For this project, I decided to do a dimensional tag instead of a card. I got this adorable animal paper for Christmas last year and this seemed the perfect opportunity to use it.

Copics Used:

Skin: E00, E01, E02, E04 & E11
Hair: E30, E31, E34 & E37
Puppy: N3, N5, R43 & R56
Clothes: N0, N3, N6, N8, C6, V13, V15, B39, B97 & B99

The sentiment is from _ and stamped onto one of the brilliant new Speech Bubble cut files you'll find here.

And don't forget to enter the SOG October Ombre challenge! Time is almost up!!

I hope you all liked the project I created this week. Tell me about your favorite pet and stay Odd!

Trick or Treat with the Odd Girls

Happy Halloween, my sweet Oddies! If you're here, that means you were kind enough to join the Odd girls on our Trick-or-Treat week and you just came from Anna's! Don't worry though, if you got lost on the dark streets of the interwebs, or just happened upon my jack-o-lantern strewn doorstep, you'll want to go back to the beginning and read the main SOG blog post. You definitely don't want to skip anyone, because in order to win treats, you must leave a comment on all of the Design Team blogs. (Even the tricksy ones!)

For my project, I used Halloween Tia - Isn't she just the cutest?! I've always wanted to carve a white pumpkin, but they are hard to find here in Florida, so I settled for coloring a carved white pumpkin. It's totally the same thing, right?

So, I'll bet your wondering if this is a trick or a treat?! Well, I'm happy to inform you that it's a TREAT!!!
TREAT!

YAY!

This treat is also introducing what has been a super sneaky secret in the Odd World! Kristi, starting with the November 4th Clear Stamp release, will be offering coordinating Odds & Ends with embellishments made to match the release! How awesome sauce is that?! This set contains sequins in bright and subtle colors of blue, pink, yellow and green as well as silver stars! Based on the colors, can you guess what the November release will be?

This treat could end up in your candy bag, but in order to possibly win this awesome package of custom mixed sequins, you have to leave a comment on all the blogs in our hop! The next Odd Girl in our Trick or Treat Hop is the lovely Leah, so go see her now and see if another treat awaits, or if she has a trick in store for you!

You can Trick or Treat with us thru midnight EDT on October 31. Winners will be announced Saturday Nov 2 on the Some Odd Girl blog. So, for your chance to win this fun treat, leave a comment and let me know what would be your ideal Halloween costume?

The (Very funny and appropriate) sentiment is from the  Big Wishes Mae clear stamp and I've also used the bow cut files from this week's release. (I didn't mean to make that sound like so much of an after thought, but MAE ANTOINETTE!!! EEEEEEE) Okay, I'll try not to lose my head over it....

I've always been a big Halloween girl! I mean, seriously, who doesn't love to play dress up and eat candy?! Well, this week I have a super cute Halloween card to show off using this Month's Featured Digi, Witchy Mae. Isn't she adorable? SOG -Ning Challenge - October Coloring Challenge

This week over at the Some Odd Girl Ning, we've got a color challenge going on.  The challenge is to use orange, purple and green in your image. Since we're coming up on Halloween, I've decided to use Mad Scientist Tobie and I think he looks quite devious in this color scheme.

Copic Colors:
Skin: E000, E01, E04, E11, R20, R32 & R29
Clothes: G40, G43, G46, YR09, YR 18, YR 27, BV08 & BV29
Hair: V09, V17, BV08 & BV29

I used Graphic 45 and My Mind's Eye papers for the card.

I hope you like the project and I hope you join our Ning and post your own project for our challenge this week!

SOG Oct 8th Release

It's Some Odd Girl digi release day!! Yay!! Everyone jump up and down and fist bump!! Or, just hop on over to the shop and download them. *Giggles*  I can't believe how adorable October's releases are, but this one was one of my favorite. I live in sunny (read: Hot and Rainy) Florida and I've been looking for some fall. I won't feel it until late December, so I'm living vicariously through this card.

I love that she looks like she's blowing over in the wind, having to hold her cute little beret to keep it from flying off. Her dress was super fun to color.

Copics:
Skin: E00, E01, E02, E04, E11, R85 & R32
Hair: YR20, YR21, E53, E55 & E57
Hat, Jacket & Boots: E97, E15, E99, E23, E18 & Y28
Dress & Accents: B91, B93, B99, C3 & C5

The background is distressed with Tim Holtz ink and stamped with the leaves from Rapunzel. And that's not to forget about the fall cut file I used. There are a cute set of three, one with pie and one with apples and I can't wait to use the others. I cut it from Avery Elle wood grain paper and distressed the top just a bit to bring out the grain.

Now if only I could get a little cool weather down here....but I guess I'll just have to settle for cranking the A/C down a bit. *Snickers*

SOG October Sketch (And First DT Submission)

I am thrilled to be a part of the Some Odd Girl Design Team this term. And by thrilled I mean totally and completely giddy and incapable of keeping still while thinking about it. *Grins* So, you'll be seeing a bit more of me (And more importantly more of SOG) on this blog. Our First challenge of the term was October's Ombre Challenge.

The first thing I thought of was Ombre hair color, because the first time I ever heard the term was from my favorite hairdresser. So, I knew that I wanted to incorporate an Ombre hairstyle on my SOG image. I used Gaze for my image so that I could put a lot of focus on the hair. I actually used a ton of colors on her hair because I wanted to give it the same depth as I do when I shadow in a standard color set, but I needed to do that for three color blocks and to blend them into each other.

Copics Used:
Skin: E0000. E01, E04, E11, E93, E95 & R20
Hair: Top (E77,E59,E47 & E79) Middle (E15, E17, E18, E29 & E57) Lower (E13, E31, E21 & E30)
Clothes & Makeup: R81, R83 & R85

In addition to my Ombre hair coloring, I made an Ombre glitter background panel, fading from a deep magenta glitter to a pale pink glitter.

Other image/cut files used: Believe & Circle Card Background

I kind of love the way she turned out. How would you use Ombre in a paper craft project?

Fall Owls - SOG Style

I knew I needed these stamps as soon as they previewed on Some Odd Girl! Anyone who knows me know that I have a not-so-minor obsession with owls! They are all over my house in various forms and I've been collecting them for almost 15 years now. It's so nice (and dangerous) that they are so popular now because I have so many more options to choose from.

Here, you'll have my owl interpretations two ways. The first, I'm entering into the September Sketch challenge. The goal was to use this template for my card.

The stamps I used were from the Some Odd Girl Owl-Days. They seem to be technically meant for Christmas or Birthdays by the looks of them, but I thought they had fall written all over their cute little faces.

The first route I went was to go a little more fun and Halloweeny with the owl. I loved that the sketch gave me a kind of moon for the owl to hover in. I gave him a little extra shadow with the W3 & W4 Copics directly on the background paper, so that no matter what direction you view him from, there is a distinct shadow behind him. I also colored some wooden stars with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and stuck those all over the place.

For the second take, I didn't use the Sketch and I went more Thanksgiving than Halloween. I just love the fall, don't you? I wanted this owl to have a bit more realistic coloring, so I looked at some photos online and tried to recreate some of the feather patterns on the Barred Owl. The acorn stamp is from the Nutsy Kaylee stamp and colored with Distress Markers.

The papers from both cards are from the Recollections Night and Fall line that I've been wanting to use since I bought them on clearance last winter. *Giggles* This was a pretty good excuse, I think!

Pixie Dust

I made this birthday card for my husband's grandmother (Mimi, as we call her) She's so sweet and has these incredible gardens that I love looking at whenever we visit, so I thought this sweet little pixie with her little flower hat was perfect.
I colored her with copics using some combinations I've never used before.

Skin: E00, E02, E04, E11, E93 & E95
Hair: BG000, BG01 & V25
Hat: YG21,YG41 & BG96
Dress: RV21, R35, RV29, R59, BG000, BG01 & V25
Wings:BG0000, BG000 & V23

The hair combination kind of made her hair look like pretty yarn, which I thought was a kind of neat affect and I really love that her whole outfit looks like it could be made of pieces of flowers.

I added a little Webster's Pages trim and little wooden mushrooms

I can never seem to capture this in photos, but I also used the Copic Spica glitter pen to add some shimmer to her wings and I used a white Gelly pen for all the highlights in her eyes, lips and cheeks.

SOG Card Swap

Last month Some Odd Girl did a fun Card Swap where members of the Ning put their name in and were paired with other members and we each made a card and sent it to our secret swap partner. It was so much fun! It was like Secret Santa, only better! I was paired with Corinne, one of the SOG DT's (I know, lucky, right?) Her card was Ah-Mazing and I only hope I did her's the justice it deserved. (You can see the lovely card I got in the mail here)

I used Happy Gwen from the digi section. There are not many digi's of Gwen, but I have both, and I think all the clear stamps too. I love this character, maybe the best. Maybe....

I used Echo Park Sweet Day papers and a Copic combo I've never used before on her dress. I really like how it turned out kind of iridescent looking.

Skin: E00, E01, E04, E11, R20, E93, E37
Hair: E21, E99, E39 & E59
Dress: Y11, V22, RV66 & RV69

I added a little felt flower to the sentiment band and then I glued....a lot...of 6mm French clear sequins to the background because this sweet girl needed bling.

I had fun giving her cute little freckles, even though I had my own *Snickers* Even a few little ones across the bridge of her nose. These are the downfalls of living somewhere sunny...which I think this Gwen totally does with her pretty little tropical sundress.

I hope you all like it, and more importantly that Corinne liked it!

Magic Mike Merman

I am in love with this card! This is Merman Kody from the Some Odd Girl digi line. He was all abs and saucy smirks and I knew I had to color him! I loved the gills and the fin areas on his arm and I wanted to play off of that and give him some scale patterns all over.

You can't really see it in the picture (Frustrating) but all the papers are super iridescent, which I thought fit the underwater theme pretty well, like sunlight on a bubble or a shimmering seashell. I tried to continue that reflective quality in the trident against his scales. I drew out both wave patterns and cut them on my Zing. (Best birthday gift EVER! My Husband just GETS me!)

The little guy to the right and the sentiment are from the Some Odd Girl Under the Sea Mae clear stamp collection.

Copics Used:
Skin: E00, E01, E04, E11, E97
Hair & Tail: BG70, BG72 BG75, BG78, BG53 & BG57
Seahorse: YR65, YR68, YR16, YR18

Some Odd Birthday Card

I've been in a bit of a design slump lately, and then to top it off, I managed to get my annual hit of strep throat (Boo) which made it even harder for me to drag myself into the studio. To kind of ease back into things, I took the advise of some of the Oddies over at the Some Odd Girl Ning and did a little reorganizing of my space and the ever growing amount of papers and bits and bobs. I also started thinking about what birthdays I have coming up and I remembered this awesome Ustream I watched where Kristi colored Big Wishes Mae by using a birthday candle as the only light source....and BLAM! I had a project. *Cheers*

Copic Colors Used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04, RV95, R12
Hair: E21, E32, E25, E27, V99, YR30, YR31
Cake: RV52, RV63, RV66, BG75, BG23
Clothes: BG75, BG78
Light Colors: YR30, YR31
Shadow Colors: BV20, BV23, BV25, BV29

The trick was to make everything close to the candle super highlighted and to darken everything from there. I like how she turned out.

If I had it to do over, I think I'd go back over the outside area with the chisel edge again.

Here is the finished card! I used new Fancy Pants Trendsetter papers (I love all their new paper sets!) and some really fun Webster's Pages trim.

It's going to be a fun birthday card for my boss at work. I think the quote on it is perfect. 'A girl should be two things: Classy & Fabulous!' is just perfect for her.
